The Gorse Bush occupies the Old Village Hall in the village of Kinlochewe in Wester Ross. Situated on the North Coast 500 route, the Gorse Bush offers fresh, hearty, local produce in a relaxed and informal setting. We are proud to make the most of the fantastic produce local to the area, whether that be langoustines (just called prawns hereabouts) and scallops from the lochs, fish from the sea, or game from the local hills.
The café takes its name from the ubiquitous gorse plants that cover the landscape. They are hardy, perennial and beautiful: with flowers which are not just pretty, but edible - delicious in both salads and desserts. We serve breakfast, lunch and home-made cakes daily with a menu that changes to reflect the best of what's available. We always have soup, sandwiches and salads available, as well as hearty stews, hot-pots and pasta dishes. We love our meat, game and fish but do strive to keep a substantial portion of our menu vegetarian-friendly, with vegan and allergen-free options also available.
For severe allergies or unusual dietary restrictions, please give us as much notice as possible - we will do our utmost to accommodate you. Every thing that we can source locally, we do. While we don't want to be completely limited by location - it would be a sad kitchen that never saw an avocado or a pepper - the majority of our dishes are made up of ingredients from the North West of Scotland. The produce here is second to none and it is our pleasure to be able to showcase it.
